Who we are

Swedenborgian psychology is a dualistic approach and therefore quite different from general psychology and material science. We did not evolve by random chance in an uncaring universe but were purposefully created for happiness and useful living. Our mind has layers of consciousness and psychic depth, and reality is not limited to physical matter in time and space. Life is not so much about pursuing power or pleasure, but rather about pursuing purpose in meaningful co-existence with others. It’s not just material ideas that are valid and useful in life; rather, it’s a return of higher consciousness within material ideas that completes us.

Swedenborgian psychology is an active, volitional practice that gradually changes our human form from the inside out. It aims to develop psychological whole mindedness as a stable spiritual or mental state. Whole mindedness is a substantial form that is receptive to higher states of human consciousness.

This form or quality of mind develops and matures as we practice and apply universal spiritual truths to life. It’s part of our human destiny to live with higher consciousness within lower levels of rational, moral, and civil conscience.

Swedenborgian psychology has universal application and appeal, regardless of a person’s background or identity because it works with timeless and universal truths for humanity.
